Useful Information Hanes Llandysilio History
Written by Paul Sambrook and Jenny Hall in conjunction with the community, and published by the Llandysilio Historical and Entertainments Society. This bilingual Welsh/English book, which has many illustrations and photos, traces the history of Llandysilio from the landscape’s birth right up to the modern day. In between Llandysilio has had a rich history, as shown by the stone age hill fort at Castell Gwyn, the village’s early mediaeval links evident from the shape of the parish churchyard and the ancient inscribed stones (now built into the church walls), via its part played in the Rebecca Riots to its position on the busy trunk road from Tenby to north Wales.
Many local people have been crucial throughout the ages in the development of Llandysilio and pictures show some of their businesses and occupations, together with an appreciation of the poets and writers who lived there, including Waldo Williams and Llwyd Williams.
